Our specialty is your vision

The ReFocus Eye Surgery Center is one of just a handful of surgery centers in Connecticut specializing solely in ophthalmic surgery. That means-unlike in hospitals or multispecialty surgery centers-our attention is focused only on eye procedures.

The AAAHC encourages and assists ambulatory health care organizations to provide the highest achievable level of care for recipients in the most efficient and economically sound manner. AAAHC accomplishes this by the operation of a peer-based assessment, consultation, education and accreditation program.

Experienced staff

You’re in good hands when you schedule surgery at the ReFocus Eye Surgery Center:

  • Our highly proficient surgeons will perform your procedure then provide post-operative care at your regular office location
  • Our M.D. anesthesiologists have special training in ophthalmic anesthesia
  • Our registered nurses and certified surgical technicians have decades of experience working with ophthalmologists
  • Our staff is fully certified in CPRand advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS)

The center offers a number of surgical procedures, including:

  • Cataract surgery
    Including the latest premium lens implantation
  • Corneal surgery/corneal transplantation
    To replace a diseased or damaged cornea
  • Refractive surgery
    To improve vision and decrease the need for glasses or contact lenses
  • Vitreoretinal surgery
    To treat a retinal tear or detachment
  • Glaucoma surgery
    To lower the pressure in the eye
  • Oculoplastic Surgery
    Plastic and reconstructive surgery on areas such as the eyelids, tear ducts, and orbit (the cavity around the eye)

What to expect

The day before surgery

One of our nurses will call to review all instructions in detail. If you are unable to be reached by phone, please contact us so that you can be properly prepared for your procedure.

The day of surgery: Before

A nurse will prepare you for your procedure in our pre-operative area.

You will have the opportunity to ask any final questions of your ophthalmologist before surgery is performed.

The day of surgery: After

You will relax in a comfortable chair and be given a light snack and a beverage.

All your postoperative instructions will be carefully reviewed with you.

You will be given a satisfaction questionnaire, so that we can learn from your experience.

Once you’re home

You will receive a call from our staff checking on your progress and asking if you have any questions.
